Creating a secure biosphere in Delgany & Greystones

The Vision

Led by citizen scientist and professional artist Eoin Llewellyn, we believe there is a wonderful opportunity to ensure that Delgany and Greystones is bio-secure in the coming years - it would be the first town in the country to achieve this status. This will necessitate the designation of key green infrastructure that supports nature and enables nature to coexist alongside new housing stock and agriculture. It also involves the expansion of the nearby Glen of the Down sessile oak wood, improving it’s ecological health and using pioneering methods to assure it’s long term survival as global heating intensifies. It is envisioned that, if implemented as designed, this could be protoype for other villages and towns across the country to emulate. There is a wealth of additional information on these exciting plans, including a detailed presentation available here.

There was also a petition set up in 2021 to gather support for this unique, thoughtful and much needed initiative which can be signed by visiting the site linked below.
